Takaful Gambia Limited has been incorporated on the 1st October 2007, as the first Islamic Insurance Company in West Africa and commenced operation on the 24th January 2008, in Banjul.

Takaful Gambia obtained its licenses from the Central Bank of the Gambia as the regulatory authority as an insurance company operating in accordance with the practice and requirements of Shariah. The business of Takaful is based on the Islamic Profit Sharing Principles of "AL - Mudarabah". In this regard, clients of Takaful Gambia Limited shall be entitled to earn returns on their contributions (Premiums) paid consideration for their participation in Takaful products products provided by TGL subject to the declaration of profit at the end of each year.
